As a means of opening that door, the chamber will host a Dublin Fall Fiesta on Sept. 21st from 6 to 9 p.m. in downtown Dublin. The entire community is invited to come get acquainted with what the Hispanic businesses offer to the community, as well as to enjoy various aspects of the Hispanic culture. There will be an Authentic Hispanic costume contest with four age divisions being judged for Dublin Dollar prizes. Age divisions are: infant to 6 years, age 7 to 12, age 13 to 20 and 21 to golden oldie. Our first fiesta of what we hope will become an annual event is intended to create awareness and appreciation and most of all a positive atmosphere for all to enjoy.
To make this event as enticing as possible to the community and visitors, Chino Rodriguez will organize the Calvagatas (Hispanic riding club) to ride into town to set the mood, escorted by Dublin’s Police Chief, Shawn Fullagar. A Mariachi band has been sponsored by the Dublin EDC, and a folkloric dance group will also be part of the feel of fiesta. This professional entertainment has been lined up by Adolfo Mendoza owner of Esmeralda’s Restaurant in Dublin. Jose Sifuentes, owner of Bargain Furniture will provide music and his co-hosting talents- along side our very own Miss Dublin 2013 Christian Rodriguez.
The event will be held at the Back Roads stage (behind Clay’s Processing). Please bring a lawn chair or a blanket and be ready to sample a taste of fiesta with items sold by our local Hispanic businesses. We will also have a vendor selling roasted corn on the cob, and Manny’s Mini Mart will be selling their delicious shrimp cocktail. The children will enjoy the pony rides, too!
Everyone is welcome to attend this multicultural event!
