The Dublin Chamber shares a mutually beneficial relationship with the City of Dublin and the Dublin Economic Development Corporation.
The Dublin Chamber of Commerce members, as the name implies, are businesses who work together to improve the economic, civic and cultural strength of our area. Basically, we strive to make life better in Dublin through efforts to support, encourage and promote commerce and tourism.
A component of that function is tourism, which brings people to town to spend money. Being visitors/tourists they don’t stay long, so they don’t cost the city anything in infrastructure or services. Tourists do not require anything special of us, yet they contribute to our sales tax and hotel-motel tax which benefit the community in many ways.
The chamber office is also the Dublin Visitor Bureau/Center. We provide information and resources to visitors, tourists and often our community. The city has assigned the bulk of its tourism responsibilities to the chamber, and helps fund it by providing 100% of the local hotel-motel tax which is generated by our two local motels- Central Inn & the Relax Inn, and the Patrick Street Inn Bed & Breakfast.
The chamber is funded in three ways: Hotel-Motel Tax, Membership Dues & Special Events
A tax is imposed on every person who pays for a hotel or motel room. We in turn get 100% of the tax collected on that room. The hotel-motel tax that is collected and passed to the chamber has very strict guidelines on how that money can be used. Without exception, it must be used for tourism- although it can be used to help fund the operations of a visitor center.
We collect dues through business membership in the Chamber. There are different categories and dues amounts, depending on the type of membership you have. The five categories are: Business Professionals, Retail/Industrial/Service, Individual/Family, Senior Citizen (60 & over), and Non-Profit Organization. Annual membership dues range in amount from as much as $300 to as little as $30.
Many of our events are not as much fundraisers for the Chamber, as fun raisers to bring people to Dublin or make Dublin a more enjoyable, family friendly place to call home for the people who live in this community. Currently, our best fundraiser event is the annual St. Patrick’s Celebration, Pageant and Parade. The Miss Dublin Court is made up of Miss Dublin, Junior Miss Dublin, Little Miss Dublin and 1st and 2nd Runner-up in each division. This is an area where Dublin truly shines, and we are so grateful for the outstanding ambassadors that are representing Dublin in our communities and the surrounding areas.
