Dublin, Texas Has Annual
St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
St. Pat Celebration set for Irish Capital of Texas
Irish eyes – and Mother Nature – will be smiling on Dublin, Texas for the annual St. Patrick’s Celebration on March 13-15.
With forecasted “chamber of commerce weather” in the Irish Capital of Texas, the celebration will feature all the perennial favorites and many new events, staged at venues throughout downtown and the city park.The theme of this year’s celebration is Peace. Love. Dublin.
Activities kick off Thursday with the crowning of Little Miss Dublin, followed on Friday night by the crowning of Junior Miss Dublin and Miss Dublin. Highlighting Friday night activities will be the fun “workshop” event called Dublin Bottling Works Soda-ology which demonstrates how the locally produced soda flavors can be creatively combined with adult libations. Serving up other tasty samples will be Veldhuizen Cheese, Goin’ Nuts and Sweet Delights by Judy. The sampling event takes place from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Rotary Building while at the same time, the Museum Crawl will open the doors to all five of Dublin’s downtown museums for free tours from 5-7 p.m. Meanwhile, an art and quilt exhibit will be staged next door to the Chamber office on South Patrick Street.
Saturday activities are kicked off with the Shamrock Shuffle 5k and Leprechaun Leap runs,followed by the ever-popular parade at 10 a.m.
Throughout the day, downtown activities will include entertainment, dancers and the dog show at Wright Historical Park; a costume contest, kid’s games and entertainment at The Corner Lob gazebo; a gunfight at Celebration Park adjacent to the bottling company, and car shows throughout downtown. All five museums will be open and the art and quilt exhibit will continue downtown. Arts and crafts vendors, as well as food vendors, will be scattered throughout downtown and in the Rotary Building. Carriage rides are available starting at Celebration Park.
Meanwhile, activities in the city park include the carnival, a vintage baseball challenge and the Cowboy Capital Roller Derby Girls. An Airstream open house will be nearby at the First United Methodist Church parking lot.
Rodeo events include the colt futurity, mutton busting and the Bulls and Broncs Shootout at the city park arena. The carnival, which opens in the city park on Thursday, will continue through Sunday afternoon.
